Houston Symphony Gala Afterparty

Saturday I attended the Houston Symphony Gala After Party. It was an absolute blast. I invited Chris to be my date. We danced the night away. It was held in the ballroom at the Hilton's Americas in downtown Houston. The decor was incredible. I wish I would have taken more pics. After dancing for a few songs I had to kick my shoes off (even though they were incredible - sequin Miu Miu mules) so I could really get down. Luckily the organization was prepared for those of us who are dancing machines because they had a tub full of flip flops for us to wear. What a cute idea! I will definitely be stealing this idea to use at my own event. Overall the the night was wonderful.

Twilight New Moon

Last night I finally watched New Moon with my Dad and was a bit disappointed. The first movie followed the book to a tee and I was so impressed by it. I know there is usually the "sophomore curse" on most sequels but I was hoping that this series would be an exception considering the intensity of the fan base. I didn't hate it I just expected so much more considering the introduction of the wolfpack. Sorry Twi-hards, the movie just didn't cut it.

Product Review : Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion Treatment

I decided to try a new at home remedy for my dull skin. After doing research on the web I decided to try Olay's Regenerist Microdermabrasion treatment. I noticed that my skin was looking a little dull from all the crazy weather changes. I wanted to get a professional microdermabrasion treatment but it was not in the budget considering each treatment is approximately $100 a pop and you can just get one treatment. You need to do a series of treatments in order to see a big difference in your skin tone and texture. For those of you who aren't familiar with microdermabrasion treatments allow me to educate you. When you go to get a treatment you lay back in a chair and a certified professional operates the microdermabrasion machine to perform the treatment. The procedure isn't painful. Its basically a wand that spits out finely ground crystals all over your face to help exfoliate the top layer of your skin. You don't bleed and you can go back to your normal activities within a few minutes of the treatment. It is a great treatment for those you have sun damaged skin or those with uneven skin texture. Also, it is a great alternative to more invasive procedures like chemical peels and even botox. I am lucky enough to have pretty decent skin that I usually don't have to worry about uneven skin texture but with me being so ill and taking new meds I feel like it took a bit of a toll on my face. This at home kit is great. It's a two step process. The first step is like a regular facial scrub and the second step is an activator serum. It takes less than five minutes to apply and you are suppose to use it twice a week. I did the first treatment on Thursday and noticed a big difference when I put on my makeup the next day. I noticed that my foundation went on more smoothly and my makeup set perfectly. I will use my second treatment tonight.

In terms of price, its very reasonable. It was $20 at Target and is suppose to last for 8 weeks of treatments. So I will continue to use it and we will see how it goes.
