The Hautest Lifetime Movie Ever

I just saw part two of this great TV miniseries Maneater. It is about a fictional LA socialite named Clarrisa who is dying to marry a wealthy man. She is 29 and feels like her prime years are running out, which I can totally relate to. I don't want to spoil ending but I will say it is very unexpected. The thing about it that I like the most is the movie is so current. The fashion, slang, and attitudes totally remind me of people I know. Most of the time on Lifetime you will see movies from the 90's and they are too outdated to really relate to.

Friday night

Friday night I had another birthday party to attend and it turned out to be a blast. It was my friend Juan's birthday. We met for happy hour at El Publito off Richmond. It is really a fun place. We reserved a cabana and everyone squeezed in. Of course we had Mariachis to entertain us and sing Juan Happy Birthday. For those reading that aren't Texas please allow me to explain Texans obsession with Mariachis. Many Mexican restaurants in Texas have them on hand on busy nights. They are basically a small group of singers with various instruments such as guitars and maybe drums. They walk from table to table and take requests for songs and sing Happy Birthday and that kind of thing. Believe me, they make every party better. Ok, back to the party. Juan's sister Merci came in from Dallas which was great because I haven't seen her in forever. We were able to catch up a bit in between all of the cheers-ing and the other hoopla. We took a lot of pics and genuinely had a wonderful time.

002 Magazine Audi Party

Thursday night I attended a fashion show at the Audi dealership on Richmond and Kirby-ish. I really had a lot of fun. I personally didn't' take any pics but you can find a great pic of me at the event at www.lastnightpics.com. The fashion show was swimwear and summer based attire and accessories. I saw a really great monokini that I have to try on. Its one of those things where you won't be able to tell if it looks good on you until you try it on. Overall it was a fun party and I made some new friends along the way.

Last weekend fun

Now that I have a real job Sunday Fundae is no longer such a good idea. I did have a wonderful time on Sunday. It was a really relaxing day. We started at KC's Lounge, which is kind of a dive bar but great for what we were doing, which on this day was watching the Rockets lose. The majority of our group was eating crawfish. I am completely over crawfish. Its a ton of work to get a tiny piece of meat and its crazy spicy. Its so spicy that my head would start sweating while I would eat them. It was crazy! I veered from my diet and ate some delicious french fries. I love junk food but it doesn't love me. Well, I guess that isn't really true. It really loves me. In fact it loves me so much it goes straight to my stomach. Boo! Now that its swimsuit season I am back on the ball. We were also celebrating birthdays so the boys had a few shots and we all had a great time. Check out some pics below.

Boo on the Rockets

Today was game 7 for the Rockets vs. Lakers and my home team's last chance to make it to the play offs. Unfortunately enough the Rockets got their asses handed to them. Lakers beat them by about 20 points. I went out to KC's to watch the game and it was fun because out group was not only there for the game but we were also celebrating a few birthdays. So, happy birthday to Steven and Brian. I love you both. I hope ya'll had a great day. I know I did.

Greek Festival in Houston, TX

This weekend is the Greek festival located off Eldridge and Memorial-ish. This is my favorite festival of the year. First off, Greek food is incredibly good. I love a good gyro and a greek salad. Yum! Also, you can buy bottles of Greek wine to share with your friends. Its just a really great chance to sit around with your friends and eat, drink and be merry. The atmosphere is very family oriented in the daytime and it becomes a bit more adult oriented once night falls. Saturday there is a World Eating Gyro competetion happen around 5pm. I can't wait to see it! I had to miss it last year because both of my siblings were graduating from college and grad school. My friend Brian is actually participating in it for the second time. It's going to be hilarious! I will try to take some pics and post them up tomorrow.

New Job

Today I started a new temp job that will hopefully be more than temporary. I am working for a cosmetic surgeon assisting in his office. It was an ok first day. The ladies in the office are friendly and easy to get along with it was just a little overwhelming. I kind of just threw myself into the mix and I am happy to say that I was able to stay afloat. I will be really happy when I can find a place where I can grow and develope a true career. These last few years have been really difficult for me. I look around and sometimes feel like life is passing me by. I know it has a lot to do with the fact that I really haven't found my way. I know the grass always looks greener on the other side but I do want to have a "normal" life. I wish I didn't get tired so easily but it is a reality I have to deal with. Don't get me wrong, its nice to have a flexible lifestyle. I love being able to go on vacation anytime I want. That is actually my favorite part about my life. Who doesn't love to travel. I just need something more. I will not be giving any details of exactly where and who I will be working for because its honestly not safe. I wish I could endorse this doctor and go all out but every time I log onto my computer I see another guy who has stalked down a woman and killed her so, call me crazy but I value my safety.

Part 3- The Reception

After a very long Catholic mass and pictures we finally made it to the reception. It was great to see everyone and all the stress was gone. All I wanted to do was get a bite to eat and a glass of wine but there was still a few things to do before we were free. First we had to do to be introduced by the emcee and participate in an age old Italian tradition appropriately titled "The Grand March". I think every nationality has some form of wedding tradition. African American people "jump the broom", Italians do a cheesy polka dance. Ha! In all actuality it was a lot of fun. Finally after the traditional dance we were free to sit back, relax, and have some wine. My parents are not big drinkers so we just had beer and wine and an insane amount of food. There was really way too much food but no one was complaining. The food was actually really good. I don't like to eat a lot because it makes me feel ill so I just had a bit of everything. About two hours in it was time for our Maid of Honor and Best Man speeches. I am never nervous about anything but as soon as I took the mike I instantly lost my train of thought and completely went blank. Something about seeing everyone staring at me, intently waiting for words to come out of my mouth, made me freak out. I quickly got over it and regained my composure. I had been planning this speech for almost a year and I was not about to blow it. I took a breath and spoke from the heart. My story was very simple and true. Last September, at Chris and Michelle Chiara's wedding, a turning point in my mind occurred. We were sitting at a table in their reception and I was sitting next to Devin when this sappy country song came on. That's when he leaned over and told me how he knew he couldn't be without Laura and this song made him realize it. Apparently they had been going through a tough time in their relationship and he left their apartment and was upset. He said he had the radio playing and then the song came on and it made him think about life without my sister and he realized he couldn't let her go. Great story right? So it went over with rave reviews. Then my brother went on to give his speech. It wasn't as to the point as mine but there is something that he said that really touched me. In his speech he said that Laura and Devin's' wedding day was one of the best days of his life and honestly, I have to agree with him. It was also one of the best days of my life. So after all the seriousness the reception started to get a bit crazy. You don't want to miss the next installment, it is by far, the most entertaining.

Part 2 of Wedding Reflection

Saturday was the main event. I wound up waking up at 8:30 a.m. and was still half asleep. Those of you who personally know me know that mornings are not my cup of tea. I hate getting up early. After a quick bite I headed to the salon to get my hair done. I went to Beautique salon in the Town and Country Village and had my hair curled and styled by Mya. She did an outstanding job. I even slept for a bit while she was doing it. I hurried back to my house to get my makeup on and pack everything up that I would need for the day. Everyone was about to leave the house when all of the dogs decided to escape and had to be chased back into the house not one but two times. Finally after all the mass confusion we pile into a number of cars and get to the church on time. Most of the ladies waited until getting to the church to put on their dresses including myself. We were all getting ready in a room about the size of a small master bathroom. It was hot and crowded considering there were 9 bridesmaids, my mom, Devin's mom and my aunt Robbi all in the same tiny area. It was insane. Time flew by and by the time we knew it we were lining up to walk down the aisle. I was getting very emotional at this point and was starting to tear up. Luckily I was able to compose myself long enough to make it down the aisle. As soon as I was settled on my spot on the altar I saw my sister and dad go down the aisle and completely lost it. I could not stop crying. It was awful. I can't image how pitiful I must have looked but I couldn't help it. It was honestly one of the most emotional moments of my life. I managed to make it thought the rest of the ceremony with a bit of composure and through pictures. The crazy thing about all of the emotion is that my makeup held up incredibly well. I thought I'd look like a mess by the time the ceremony was over and I couldn't be further from the truth. Also, I really appreciated the fact that Michelle, my cousin Chris' wife, went and got my makeup so I could do a quick touch up. So thanks Michelle, you were a life saver.

Dog Fight

Tonight Chloe and Stevie got into a big fight. Stevie, my sister's dog, is a Corgi and about 40 lbs heavier than Chloe. Even thought Chloe thinks she is a big dog she is only a 4 lb yorkie. So needless to say Chloe now has a gash on the top of her head that is bleeding. Thank goodness it stopped bleeding because I thought I was going to have to take her to the Vet ER to get stitches. So tonight I will be babying her by letting her sleep with me in my bed. Poor baby, I feel so bad for her. Hopefully she won't be in any pain tomorrow or I will be taking her to the vet after all.

Post Wedding Reflection

It's hard to image that this event that we have been planning for about a year is now over. The official events started on Friday night at the rehearsal dinner. We all started off at the church where we practiced going up and down the aisle and all that kind of stuff. Then we proceeded to the dinner which was held at a great Italian restaurant. Above is a pic of me with my new brother-in-law Devin. I would love to post a pic of me with my sister but she has decided that she doesn't want her face on my blog so I am respecting her wish. So even though it was her wedding, you will be seeing everyone else but her. After a wonderful dinner I went back to my house and helped my sister pack for her honeymoon. I am now very glad that I got to bed at a half-way decent hour because the next day was utter insanity.

Post Wedding Exhaustion

So, I just got home from an extremely long day of celebrating my sister's wedding. It was a great day overall despite a few bumps in the road. But don't worry guys, you will hear all about it tomorrow.

Party at the Parent's House

Last night everyone came in from out of town for my sister's wedding. Tons of people and pets invaded my parents last night and it was a huge circus. I have to admit, it was a lot of fun. After a big fajita dinner we all decided to sit on the back porch and catch up. Later in the night my cousins even came. We were laughing and joking for hours. My brother even came from Philly with his friend who is from Jersey. Luckily the lot we live on is substantial so we didn't have any complaints from neighbors. Or maybe we did, I just didn't hear about them. Ha! The morning was an entirely other story. Let me start by saying that I am not a morning person. Anyway, for at least 2 hours this morning I kept waking up to the sound of very loud barking from my sister's rowdy dog. By the time I got up I was so miserable I was ready to kill Stevie. Surprisingly enough, the minute I got up and went downstairs she stopped barking. So now I am resting in bed with a killer headache and a full day of running around like crazy. Boo! So I'm going to try and get a halfway decent rest before I start moving around.
