Swine Flu

So I'm sure everyone is aware of the swine flu. There have been two cases of the outbreak in Houston Texas. This totally freaks me out because of my weakened immune system. I know it is very unlikely that I will contract the swine flu but it still freaks me out. Mexico is very close to Texas and we have tons of people come into Texas from Mexico everyday. I'm sure I'm completely overreacting but it freaks me out on so many levels.

Part 2

So after having a long conversation with my sister I promised her that I would no longer blog about specifics in her life. She is one of those people who doesn't like social networking because it in her words it "advertises all her private business". So I decided to do this out of respect for her wishes even though I think its a bunch of crap. I mean, its not like she is a movie star or an elected official. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. I would understand if I was posting intimate personal details but I don't. I try to think of it in terms of personal preference instead of right and wrong. So I will some up my weekend in San Antonio as fun but exhausting.

San Antonio Adventures Part 1

So I've been in San Antonio Texas for the last few days spending time with my sister on her bachelorette party weekend. I arrived Thursday afternoon and went straight to my favorite mall in San Antonio called La Cantera. Its really a serene shopping location during the transition seasons because it is an open air concept. My favorite store there is Free People. It is the embodiment of hippie chic, which I love. Also, they have great sales. I got a cute tube dress that I am going to wear out tonight. So far the weekend has been going well and I hope that my sister is enjoying it as much as I am. Today we have spent most of the day sitting by the pool. Earlier to day it looked like it was threatening to rain but I am happy to say it has cleared up and turned into a beautiful sunny day. I think I might have a bit of a sun burn. Oh well, the lenghts we go to in order to appear bronzed. The sun has worn me out so I am about to head back upstairs to our room to get in a quick rest before I have to start primping for the long night out. Part 2 coming soon.....

Earth Day

Tomorrow is Earth day and I plan on heading to a great party at Barney's COOP in the Houston Texas Galleria. It is the second annual Green Fling benefiting the American Lung Association. I will be attending with my new steady date, my Dad and maybe my friend Michael. Also, tomorrow I will be testing out a new hair stylist so wish me luck. The last time I tried someone new I wound up crying and having to completely redo it. It was a huge pain in the ass. I'm not one of those really "earthy" people but I try to do my part. One of the main things I do to contribute to the cause is to reuse my shopping bags. I keep an old shopping bag in the backseat of my car and I bring it into stores so I don't have to get another one. It might not seem like much but every little bit helps. So, even if you do something that you think is minor it all adds up.

Big Brother's/Big Sister's Roman Gala

Last night I attended the Big Brother's/Big Sister's Roman Gala in Houston, Texas. It was held at the Corinithian in downtown Houston. I was honestly like something out of a movie. The entire event was outstanding. The food was catered by Jackson Hicks, which is the top caterers in Houston. Ever detail of the event was perfectly executed. I was incredibly impressed. Since the event was black tie I wore a vintage gown by Victor Costa. It was the perfect shade of red to complement my features. It has been years since I've been to an event this fabulous. It was really fun getting all dressed up. A few of my best friends also attended the event so that made it even better. After dinner the Spazmatics played. They are a local 80's cover band and they totally rocked out. Overall it was a incredible night. Its so great when you can have so much fun and give to an extremely worthy cause.

Saks Sale Alert!!!

Just wanted to let everyone in on a sale secret. Saks is having their annual "Friends and Family" Event starting on Thursday and ending on Sunday. If you are in Houston go visit Jean or Samira in the Houston Galleria and they will take care of you during this event. They can be found on the third floor in the lingerie and Home departments. I really like working with them when I am in the store because they aren't pushy. I hate when you go into a store and salespeople stalk you as you are shopping. It truly drives me insane! The sale allows you to purchase some items at up to 25% off. Many of the designer names are excluded, which kind of sucks because those are the items that you really need a discount on. Also, cosmetics are only 15% off. So ladies and gentlemen, happy shopping.

Happy Easter

Just wanted to wish everyone a good Easter. I hope you all got to spend a little time with close family or friends. I am currently suffering from a sugar overdose induced by large amounts candy in the shape of eggs. Holiday candy is my favorite kind of candy. I love the stuff you can buy at your local drug or grocery store. My favorite is chocolate eggs with strawberry or raspberry filling. So delicious. I also love Peeps. Peeps are great. I know that technically they are just marshmallows covered in granulated sugar but they are amazing. So hopefully by the time I wake up tomorrow I won't have such a stomach ache!

Loehmann's Deals

Yesterday I stopped into my favorite store, Loehmanns. Now, if you've never had a Loehmanns shopping experience then you are totally missing out. Loehmanns is a reduced price designer clothing store. Now for you shopping snobs don't knock it until you try it. Especially with the economy spiraling into a depression fashionistas need to save anywhere they can. Even thought you would think that discounted retailers would be prospering from tough times they are still being hit just as hard. They just implemented a new discount program for frequent shoppers. I love it because I spend a ton of money at Loehmanns so of course I am already a gold card member. Shocking I know. I'm not sure how much you have to spend annually to reach this status because the program is so new. I really think they are trying to work out all of the kinks. The gold card allows you to receive 10% off all purchases. I know what you are thinking, 10% doesn't sound like much but it does cover a little more than the tax on purchases in Texas. Our tax is 8.25% on all purchases. Hey guys, every little bit helps when you shop as much as I do. I did overhear that you can purchase a gold card for $25 if you haven't reached the elite status by yourself. So ladies and gentlemen, check it out. The have something for everyone in the family from kids all the way to seniors.

So, today was an ok day

I've been having some hard times these last couple of days. Many days I just slug along doing minimal tasks and winding up physically and emotionally exhausted. Its amazing how emotionally draining breakups can be. Luckily, things were different for me today. I think it had to do with the fact that I had a busy schedule. Even though I accomplished a lot today I am not anywhere near as tired as I was on a day like yesterday where I didn't really have anything to do at all. I honestly just want to move on with my life and forget he was ever a part of it. I do not have any desire to date anytime soon. My heart is still sore. I really don't even want to hang out with guys right now. The craziest thing is that guys who are interested in me are trying to get at me while I'm at my worst emotionally. Which, totally pisses me off. Who do these idiots think they are? Do they really think that I am going to fall for their crap. They must think that I am desperate. Well, they have another thing coming to them.

Party Planning

So today I did a little research for my sister's bachelorette party. San Antonio hotels are super overpriced. I was thinking we could do it at a hotel on or close to the Riverwalk but I was not expecting the outrageous prices. Most hotels were around 200 a night. Crazy in my mind for San Antonio. So I think we are now going to the Hilton San Antonio Country Hotel and Spa. I think it will be a good choice. Its suppose to be a nice hotel and it has an awesome pool and a lazy river ride. Even thought it has way more amenities than any of the Riverwalk hotels and it is about $70 less. I am really looking forward to it.

Oh, on another totally different topic I got a call from my favorite Nars counter at Dillards in Memorial City Mall letting me know that I had won a Nars gift basket. Yea! As you've probably figured out by now I love makeup so it brought I little sunshine to my day.

Sloan Hall Party

Tonight I went out on a date. But don't freak out because it was with my Dad. Also, my good friend Michael met us there. We went to Sloan Hall because they were having a party to benefit CAP - Citizens for Animal Protect in Houston Texas. The owners have two beautiful Italian Greyhounds who were running around the store. One was absolutely hilarious. He was able to stand on his hind legs like a person. Of course I did have a quesadilla in my hand from Armandos so I can't blame him. They also had a small performance with Brazilian dancers. It was very cool. I was wearing a cool dress I picked up when I was shopping with Greta. Thanks for talking me into getting it! I wore it with capri tights and my killer Gucci booties. It was really good to be able to get out and have fun.

Maybe...

I've been thinking about how so far I have considered all of these changes to be negative but maybe they are not negative at all. Maybe these changes aren't negative at all? Maybe the hurt will be short lived? Maybe I won't cry anymore? Maybe this is the last time I will have to recover from a broken heart? So many maybes....
