Today I made the trek down to the Houston Medical Center to meet a new Crohn's doctor. My current doctor is close to retirement so I need to find someone that I really like before I am forced to go to whatever doctor at the last minute. I'm always scared to try new doctors because I had a really bad experience the last time I attempted to find a new doctor. You can't blame me though, the last new doctor almost killed me with his lack of knowledge. Lets call the new doctor Dr. T. Dr. T actually spent a lot of time with me getting to know my medical history. He also had a very friendly demeanor, which is rare for smarty pants doctors. Usually doctors, particularly specialists have zero personality, which makes it hard as a patient to relate to. Overall, it was a very positive experience. I'm not a huge fan of the location, which is in Scurlock Towers. It seemed like the entire place was worn out and the decor looked straight out of a bad 80's movie. Yuck! I hope that I will not have to see him anytime soon but it is so important to develope a relationship when you are well so if I do have a flare the doctor knows what I look like healthy. At least this is one relationship where I can't get dumped! Despite having a great experience with the doctor I didn't have the best experience getting my blood drawn. Check out the "wonder woman" look I am rocking above. That is what happens when they poke you so many times that they have to wrap your wrists tightly to keep the bleeding at a minimum.
P.S. The doctor was so cute! Sorry I had to go there. Hahaha.
